Læsø Sydesalt is made in open iron pans, fired by the island's own firewood. Læsø Saltsyderi only makes unrefined sea salt, as they did in the old days. Læsø salt is dried first in wicker baskets and then in the attic above the shop. Then the salt is smoked with beech and heather from Læsø and then poured into a practical bucket with a cork lid, which retains the fine smoky taste in the salt.
